ABOUT LAUREN
Lauren McNally is the 59th District State Representative (which will again become the 58th District in January 2025). She is in her first term as a State Representative and was previously the City of Youngstown 5th Ward Councilwoman, first elected in 2015. She lives on the West Side of Youngstown with her husband, Breen, and their four children.
After graduating from Ursuline High School, she continued her education at The Ohio State University and Miami University (Ohio), earning degrees in Political Science and Journalism. Immediately after college, she was a journalist for local NPR stations and other print media outlets nationwide. Lauren has since worked as a Marketing Specialist for various Consulting Firms.
Lauren has been active in our community, serving on various community boards, including the American Red Cross and the Women's Junior League of Youngstown.
Lauren serves on the following State House committees: Agriculture, Commerce and Labor, Economic and Workforce Development, Families and Aging, Transportation Committee, and the Finance Subcommittee of Health and Human Services.
Lauren's family values come from her mom being one of nine daughters of local legendary high school football coach and longtime Ursuline High School Principal Tom Carey. His lifelong dedication to education and the athletic programs he built showed Lauren how educators positively impact children in and out of the classroom.
Her paternal grandfather was a lifelong Union Mill worker who used his union wages to do more than provide a good life for his wife and kids. He financially supported those emigrating from his native Romania to America, ensuring they could better their lives. His life is an extraordinary example of how union benefits have a wide-reaching impact. Lauren's grandfathers were World War II veterans who instilled strong values in their children.
Of all the influences in her life, no one has had a larger impact on the lives of others than her father-in-law, Jerome McNally. He held the very seat on the Youngstown City Council that Lauren now holds. While also serving in other various public positions for two decades. He and her grandfathers have shown her how service and leadership can enrich the lives of people around you, creating a better community.
These lessons on service are what she strives to share throughout the Mahoning Valley as the 59th State of Ohio House District Representative.
